The Merlian Empire is an oceanic society built on an archipelago. It is ruled by a just empress and a kind princess whose power is uncontested thanks to the Waveshaper, a magical artifact that can control the ocean. One day, an amnesiac young woman washes up on the empire’s shore. The only clue to her past is the pendant she was found with - a pendant bearing the symbol of the Dark Sorceress, an enemy of the realm. Despite this, she is taken in as the princess’s handmaiden and becomes fast friends with her, much to the worry of the princess’s personal guard. The amnesiac woman settles into her new life, but not is all as it seems: her amnesia is the result of a spell cast by the Dark Sorceress, who is actually her mother.
She has been sent to infiltrate the Merlian Empire and earn the royal family’s trust for her mother’s nefarious scheme: to steal the royal family’s magic.
In a world of floating islands, the Witch of the Deep is a flightless harpy who lives at the bottom alongside her flying monkeys. The lonely wasteland is all she has ever known, as travel between islands is strictly forbidden. When the Witch encounters a traveling stranger named Dorothy, she decides to find out what exists beyond her island. Play as the Witch as she explores the other islands, meets strange new friends, battles monsters, collects Star Shards, and discovers about the truth about their land - and herself.

Based off of the Wizard of Oz and visually inspired by games like Hollow Knight and Ori and the Blind Forest, Witch of the Deep is a conceptual metroidvania video game with platforming and RPG elements.
